Voices of our students

"What I particularly enjoy is the variety between university, vocational school and the company. Everything builds on each other. This way you can really understand the content from different perspectives and see the connections."

Perspective

Skilled work in many professions requires both demanding practical skills and intensive "knowledge work": in services and industry, alongside the operational tasks there are also complex planning and management duties for which a degree provides better preparation. Conversely, commercial staff and managers in many fields, not just in the trades, also need detailed knowledge of practical professional skilled work.

It is generally expected that digitalisation will further increase the interweaving of practical and cognitive requirements. Although the share of cognitive requirements in vocational training has already risen in many professions, interlinking vocational and academic education enables the development of new competence profiles and leads to better opportunities in the labour market.

Berufsschule

Der Berufsschulunterricht im BHH-Studiengang für Industriekaufleute mit Bachelorstudium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre (BWL) findet an der Beruflichen Schule für Wirtschaft Hamburg-Eimsbüttel (BS 26) statt.

The vocational school provides in-depth knowledge in both theory and practice. Here, students gain a broader perspective on their occupational field that extends beyond the boundaries of their own training company. Vocational school classes are taught in dedicated groups. A total of six modules with six ECTS credit points each (36 ECTS credit points in total) can be completed at the vocational school and counted towards the Bachelor's degree. To ensure comparability between the learning fields at the vocational school and the university modules, the scope and content of the vocational school lessons are deepened and extended.

Lernort

Hochschule
